If you’ve ever experienced some level of back pain, you know how uncomfortable and painful this type of ailment can be. Either from carrying a heavy box or lifting up too much weight at the gym, your back can suffer from too heavy lifting or wrongly carrying heavy weight around (be it a person or a thing). Now picture having to carry a heavy box all day long wherever you go (while walking, while driving, while sleeping, while having sex, while eating, etc. – you get the idea). Overweight people are doing this every day, carrying extra body weight  with them. And as with heavy lifting, overweight people’s bodies suffer from strain and heavy loads.

Being overweight can put a person at risk when the excess weight is significant and qualifies as obesity. On the contrary, excess weight do to heavy muscle mass does not fall under the risk factor list. The risk of back pain in obese people can increase do to several reasons. The more obvious one is the excess weight itself.

Excess weight increases the body’s overall load vertebrae have to carry around. Because the load is so heave, the spine’s vertebrae start to wear off and increase the chances of deformation or more serious injuries. The muscles on the back are also forced to work extra hard to support and more the body during whatever movement of position we need to adopt. A well trained body is usually capable of supporting the body correctly; however, this is not usually the case in overweight people. On the contrary, overweight people tend to have poor physical healthy and do little exercise.

Leading a sedentary life is one of the key reasons for overweight people to, well, gain weight. Because their overall body load is so heavy and moving around is difficult and many times painful. Because of such a reason, their back and abdominal muscles aren’t strong enough to deal with the excess weight.

Consequently with lack of exercise and sedentary lives, overweight people have really poor health. Usually heart conditions and other metabolic and cardiovascular trouble are present in the lives of obese persons. Even more so, these problems lead to other conditions such as skin problems, erectile dysfunction and others. Such health conditions caused by potential back pain lead patients to having to take treatments like generic Viagra and heart medication.

Yet there are options. Milder exercise training programs can be designed to fit an overweight person looking to decrease their size. By doing so, the body will automatically readjust to the new acquired weight, after excess is lost and back pain will slowly diminish. The more weight the person gets rid off, the lower the pain will be. Ideally, after loosing all that weight, the person can have rehab therapy for more serious injuries suffered during the overweight period (back lesions, vertebrae wear-off, etc).

Don’t give up and get rid of weight, back pain and all of the other complications being overweight brings into your life. Be healthier today!
