The minute that nasty back pain kicks in, sex falls down to the bottom of your fun list. Severe or chronic back pain can interfere or even stop a couple’s sex life in no time. What is worse, several men fail to look for medical attention, increasing the potential of harmful effects of untreated neck and back pain. Among these consequences is inability to have sex. Back pain can gradually increase to a point where it is impossible for the patient to even more, let alone assume mild or wild sexual positions.

Experts in the matter state that back pain is one of the most common medical problems, and affects 8 out of 10 people during their lifetime. Ranging from dull but persistent ache to the more torturing sharp needle-like pains, backache can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Suffering from back pain for over three months is considered a chronic condition. Most patients suffering from backache can get away with taking OTC pain killers and rest. However, over doing that bed time can result in even worse back problems rather than alleviate your suffering.

So-called sexperts know a thing or two about the most stressful sexual positions in terms of body strength. Depending on positioning and acrobatics of sex performances, chances are severe back pain will get in the way of your kink plays. Most recommended positions continue to fall back on to two particular issues: resting on your back and proper support. Most professional advice says the backache patient should lie on his back over a firm surface, so don’t go all crazy and have sex on a bean bag. Try a harder-than-average mattress, a rug on the floor or similar hard but comfortable areas.

Support is key too. Propping yourself with towels or strategically placed pillows can help reduce the pain in the affected area and prevent from further injuries. Since a back patient is prone to suffer from increased back pain, support elements minimize the risk and allow for great and comfortable sexual positions. One great thing about support systems most couples haven’t realized all together, besides helping backache, is the elevated sexual pleasure some positions can produce when properly supported. It is a win-win situation if you ask me.

Remember that keeping quiet about your back problems can further interfere with your sex life and sex drive too. Back pain can carry a boat load of issues that may affect your performance in bed. A sex drive killer, back pain can affect not only physical capacity but intimacy and sex drive. Being unable to perform due to back pain can translate into emotional and psychological issues that can further truncate an otherwise healthy relationship. So get talking; not only with your partner but with your doctor as well. Back pain should not lead to generic Viagra consumption, unless specifically prescribed. A few changes in sex positions, proper gear and timely medical attention will get you out of your back pain nightmare in no time.
