False Drinking Remedies

For some of us, the reason why men feel the need to drink more alcohol than they can handle remains a mystery. Stumbling and bumbling are not appealing at all and not being able to remember what you did last night is not something to be proud of – who knows what you did anyway. While men seem to genuinely consume excessive alcohol out of pure fun, home-made drinking remedies continue to claim their miracle powers to help a rough night’s hangover. Most of these remedies are not even working, you should at least be aware of what not to take, do or drink after a night of hardcore partying. Read more and learn about the different false drinking remedies and what some people do because they think it helps them.

Everyone who has had one drink too many often suffers from those awful hangovers that follow. Perhaps that is why we keep inventing remedies to help us get through this disturbing step easier and faster. Unfortunately the only two things that work are time and abstinence. Time, for those of you who cannot stop drinking, means having to cope with the symptoms and getting through the recovery process in slow motion. We know that it’s harsh, but there really is no other way around hangovers. Sleeping it off, as some would say, may in fact help your organism rest and process the alcohol out of your body. Some say that drinking plenty of water and eating may also help you. In our opinion, drinking water may hasten the entire process of cleansing the alcohol from the body, but you will still get headaches and nausea at the first sight of food.

Some claim that avoiding a hangover can be done by starting off the night with a slowly drank shot of bourbon. Well, we cannot really see the scientific explanation behind this myth. Alcohol is alcohol and it is poisonous to one’s body no matter how slowly it is drunk or if it comes in shot glasses or large glasses. In the end, the body’s capacity to process alcohol is the only thing that matters.

Then there’s coffee, of course – the greatest of all hangover remedies. People “at risk” of getting a hangover, see in coffee a miracle worker, when it really it is not. Scientists have proven that coffee does not help hangovers; on the contrary, coffee can make your hangover worse. Coffee hastens metabolism and alcohol is cleared faster from the organism. But the truth is that coffee will only give you heart palpitations and headaches while not curing the hangover. As an energy booster, coffee can only counteract the calming effect of booze. However, alcohol remains causing the same excruciating hangover pain without you feeling like a bag of potatoes.

The last bad news we have is that painkillers such as acetaminophen or aspirin are not able to save you either. Moreover, doctors recommend avoiding taking drugs as a preventing measure for hangovers because this is when the liver and the stomach are the most vulnerable. Therefore, you have to give your organism time to clear out all the alcohol you have abused and then, in time, you will feel better. No generic Viagra for you buddy – not even that can save you.
