You have probably heard tons about premature ejaculation, but how about retrograde ejaculation? A condition sometimes mistaken for dry orgasm and infertility, retrograde ejaculation often manifests through cloudy urine after orgasm and shows in fact the latter conditions as symptoms of its presence in a male patient.

This condition takes place when semen, instead of coming out of the penis during orgasm, enters the bladder. Even when men still experience orgasm, very little or no ejaculate or semen are to be found – hence the name dry orgasm. While retrograde ejaculation causes no physical harm, male infertility can be a symptomatic outcome. This condition – retrograde ejaculation – can also be caused by certain medication, given health issues or issues from prior surgeries that hinder bladder control.

Other advised treatment for retrograde ejaculation includes ceasing to take any medication that may be triggering the effect and find a new alternative to such medicine. In the case of health conditions causing retrograde ejaculation such as surgery, certain medication may be able to resolve the problem not only of ejaculating properly but restore fertility as well.

Though retrograde ejaculation is not harmful, the side effects might present potential complications such as being unable to impregnate your partner and less pleasurable orgasms due to diminished flow of semen. As mentioned before, you may also experience semen in your urine. Only if caused by nerve damage will medication work to treat your retrograde ejaculation. Otherwise, it is possible your condition is due to scaring during previous surgery that has therefore changed your anatomy.

Assessing the reason for your retrograde ejaculation will allow you to determine what step to take next. In the given case you and your partner wish to become pregnant, either treatment or artificial insemination are the choices at hand. Consult with a physician the alternatives on in-vitro and other artificial insemination and conception options.

If after a year of having unprotected sex you are unable to get pregnant with you partner, it would be advisable you seek a specialist’s opinion on what could be causing such issue. The options available in the medical market are many times effective; however, the cost of undergoing an artificial insemination process can rise considerably. Properly discussing the options with your partner can make the process much easier and have better results be it you decide to try these alternative methods or cope with the situation.
