You thought your body odor or smelly feet were something only you noticed, while your date remained unaware. Right? Wrong! Bad habits and Nature can many times backfire on us with bad smells and embarrassing hygiene conditions. No matter how little you care about your appearance, I’m sure you care about getting sex as often as possible (be it with the same lady or not). Either way, you won’t be getting a thing if those nasty hygiene habits of yours continue taking over your dating world. Pay attention.
Hygiene is your basic sex booster. Forget generic Viagra and retardant sprays. Those are for later. But right now, we are going to focus on the different hygiene issues you probably have that might be causing trouble in the dating department, or social department for that matter. No one wants to be near the smelly kid anyway. Even when you think you get away with your faux pas from time to time, girls are known to take notice of every tiny little detail, unimaginable to us men. Here I’ll try to provide you with the bigger picture and once you realize your problem areas, you can go ahead and go deeper into your more specific problems.
First and most basic: showering. It might sound dumb to state this but many guys get it wrong in the shower. Used to quick and less than thorough showering, we shoot that hot water knob like there’s no tomorrow, brush a faint coat of soap here and there, rinse and out of the shower it is. And after that, we continue to do it wrong. Not only are we sloppy in the shower, we fail to properly damp off our body – especially those tricky moist-storing areas. The consequences are smelly crotches and other crises, and most likely fungus developing in unwanted places. Not only are dirt and foul odor still there because of that lazy shower, we have now added growing bacteria to the mix.
Tips: Cold water is less likely to accommodate bacteria, but if you can’t live with out a steamy shower, finish off your morning routine with a cold shot to invigorate your body and lessen the chances of bacteria making your folds their home. Second, you should use soap wisely. Soap is part of the shower for a reason: it cleans what is dirty and in the best of cases leaves you smelling fresh. Take your time to soap the obvious smelly spots and give the rest of the body a gentle brush and rise. Third, dry properly. Using your towel half way and letting the rest be taken care of by the clothes you wear is no good. If you fail to dry, chances of moist-produced bacteria forming all over become high, and with them comes really bad odor.
Now, with your shower comes another big issue most men overlook, and that is their skin. Oily or dry, skin is pretty much your business card. Skin in good condition is always tempting to touch; by taking proper care of your skin (face and body) you will likely have more caressing coming your way. And this is basic survival, no messing with your masculinity here. Harsh weather changes can do horrible things to your skin. Combine weather with those hot showers you like so much and your skin is likely to be suffering of lack of moisture or excess serum production.
Tips: Find the right moisturizer for your type of skin. Usually your face will require a particular moisturizer different from body lotion, because the second tends to be more oily and thick. If you have back or chest acne, find a body lotion to treat oily skin. The idea with skin moisturizer is your skin gets all the good stuff while staying clear and fresh. Moisturizer, especially that for your face, should contain SPF. SPF will protect you from sun damage and keep early wrinkles away for longer.
