Top Three Gifts For Father's Day
Finding the right present for your father on Father’s Day is more than a hassle. We all know how difficult it is to pick out something special, an item that Dad would really like. Contrary to common belief, buying gifts for men is much more difficult than for women. Ladies being the beautiful creatures they are, are easily pleased with small accessories and tokens of love. Getting an inexpensive piece of clothing, jewelry or scented sprays will likely put a smile on any girl’s face. But when it comes to men, the plot thickens, especially when it concerns Dad and his dorky taste.
Odd presents come and go. A friend once thought of giving his dad a sample bottle of generic Viagra, as a joke. The only person I consider it would be appropriate to receive generic Viagra from is my GP. And even so, it would be weird. The best advice I have to give is to come up with a list of gifts kids can think of in advance. List in hand, define a budget and eliminate those gifts that surpass the established budget. Depending on each dad’s personality presents will vary. Older children may join budgets to present their father with a more expensive and high end gift. While gifts are often thought of as whimsical more than practical, consider stuff your dad might need as part of your list. These items might make him happier than some random gift.
Anyhow, forget about the regular stuff your dad can buy for himself. Father’s Day is his special day. There are those who go for funny and personalized gifts like t-shirt with goofy pictures of some family day trip or nice messages that will bring a smile onto daddy dearest’s face. These t-shirts are practical (they will likely end up being used as pj’s) and quite cheap, making them the perfect gift for a child to give to his father.
Then there’s the always appropriate wine or beer selection, to which personalized labels and wrapping can be added. These may also sport funny messages or words of endearment for good old dad. The true connoisseur or even an enthusiast of fine liquor or wine will be much appreciative of tasting-related items. These may include bar gear, cutlery, glassware and such.
For the grill master dads out there, camping and outdoors centers often have a “Personalize Dad’s BBQ or Grilling set” stand during this holiday’s weekend. A loving message engraved on a good piece of BBQ machinery can make the greatest cook shed a tear or two. Those words will stay with him till the BBQ crashes.
Pranksters beware, jokes on Father’s Day are only acceptable if done with good taste and are followed by a really nice gift. The whole generic Viagra prank we talked about earlier may or may not click with your old man’s humor; you be the judge. Good luck with getting your dad the best present he ever received for his special day!
