Pin Up Girls
Back in the day when men during World War I were fighting for their country, an army of gorgeous “girls-next-door-with-a-little-more-to-show” were popping around men’s locker rooms like weed in an unkempt lawn. What the girls back then did for lonely soldiers, they continue to do today. A whole new generation of pin up girls are making a household name for themselves trying to bring back the cheesecake look of yesteryear. An idealized era for the country, 50’s pin ups where the idealized version of what a pretty girl should be. Today’s pretty ladies come in all sizes, shapes, hair colors and styles. What is so sexy about these new found vintage models?In a day and age in which finding a hardcore picture of a completely naked and shaved girl inserting the oddest phallic shape into her vagina and what not, a little bit of mystery is very much appreciated. The appeal of naive but mischievous girls posing as pin up girls in army or navy outfits gave the troops that extra oomph they needed to go fighting for what was their. Hey, even today, with the country at war, girls in tiny outfits go encourage and thank the military crowd for their efforts. What is not to like, after all. Pretty girl+small little outfit+naughty look+full unlimited access to take a peek at those eyes telling you “here I am”. Beautiful.
If anything, men love to watch. You see them at the mall, while at the restaurant having dinner with the wife, on a Friday night at the local bar having beer with friends, while watching TV. Even the ugliest of girls (or ladies) with a nice rack get at least a little glance. Perhaps a natural impulse, men are likely to go around assessing and appreciating Nature’s gift. No wasting time here.
So, no wonder why pin ups had such a huge impact way back when. Being able to pick-a-boo on their favorite blonde, red head or brunette, pin ups where there when they needed them to. No judging, no needing to sweat before the door opening on a date, no nothing. Today, perhaps the appeal of the modern pin up is somewhat reverse. Being shown everything all the time, a new generation of men had long been searching for the teasing girl, instead of the flasher. A few more tattoos than their predecessors and sporting hot pink but vintage hairdos, modern day pin ups have managed to build their very own empires, inspired in golden days’ glamor.
Bernie Dexter, Sabina Kelley, and the starter of this whole new movement Dita Von Teese (former Marilyn Manson’s wife) are great examples of modern day pin ups, but for some it is not the model but the style that makes the generic Viagra work. Care for some cheesecake?
